KEITH M. DELANEY
(Drums, Percussion, Performer, Instructor)
I began my journey of drumming at age 14. I studied at first with records of my favorite groups and drummers at the time which included Mitch Mitchell of Jimi Hendrix, John Bonham of Led Zepplin, Don Brewer of Grand Funk, Ian Paice of Deep Purple, just to name a few. Soon, I began to play with local friends from school forming various bands.....I WAS HOOKED!
My interest in drumming flourished at a rapid rate. As my drumming technique improved so did my interest in other types of drumming such
Funk, R&B, Jazz. I was listening to David Garibaldi, Dave Weckl, Bernard Purdie, Steve Gadd, Elvin Jones, and of course Buddy Rich...
I WAS OBSESSED!
I realized I had more potential and needed some direction. I had become interested in the theory of drumming and knowing what my instrument and myself was capable of. It was at that point I decided to take drumming lessons. I was accepted into a prestigious Musical Institute where I learned to read and write drum music. Not only did I learn theory and learn to know my instrument but also I learned the most important part of being a musician..... MUSICIANSHIP. It was during my drumming lessons that everything started coming together for me.
I have been playing drum for over 35 years and teaching now for 15 years. Drumming is my souls passion. I hope my enthusiasm for drumming and stressing the importance of lessons has hit home for you. Whether you call me or another instructor for lessons.... the important thing to do is to call. Drumming is an endless journey and learning experience. I learn something new every time I pick up my sticks and sit on my throne!
Good Drumming To You!
